Jeffcott Law LLC is a boutique law firm located in Columbus, Ohio, owned and managed by Columbus Liquor Attorney, Tom Jeffcott. Jeffcott Law primarily represents individuals and businesses in the hospitality industry. Over the years, Tom has helped numerous clients navigate the intricacies of Ohio’s liquor laws by assisting with liquor permit transfers and serving as a general business counselor.
Tom’s first exposure to this niche area of law started in law school when he interned at a small law firm that focused on liquor law and criminal defense. The unique legal challenges of representing bars and restaurants drew him in immediately, and he knew he wanted to pursue liquor law as a career. After graduating law school, he accepted a job as an attorney at that same firm and continued to represented bars, restaurants, nightclubs, carryouts, breweries, distilleries, and additional hospitality industry clients.
As a Columbus Liquor Attorney, Tom’s client list ranges from small, mom-and-pop operations to large corporate chains. Tom finds it particularly rewarding to work with small business clients. Tom’s great-grandparents opened a neighborhood tavern in 1933. Not only did both of his great-grandparents work there, but they also lived in the apartment above the tavern with their eleven children. Tom appreciates the value and importance of a family-run operation, and does everything he can to keep rates affordable for small business clients who are opening their first establishment.
Today, as the owner of his own law firm, Tom takes a client-centered approach to practicing law. Tom encourages open lines of communication with each person he represents. He will not hesitate to work around a client’s busy schedule to accommodate evening or weekend appointments, and does not mind providing his cell phone to make sure every client’s needs are met in a timely manner. Additionally, because Jeffcott Law offers flat rate services, clients do not have to worry about getting billed for every phone call or email. Outside of practicing law, Tom coaches the undergraduate Mock Trial Team at The Ohio State University - one of the top programs in the nation. Tom enjoys spending time with his wife, Molly, and dog, Atticus. He also likes to explore the many restaurants, bars, and local shops that Columbus has to offer, especially the ones in his Short North neighborhood.
